I discovered The Dead Sea for myself last December while shopping for other necessities. Outside their Spa, conveniently located in the Sugarhouse neighborhood of 2100 South and 700 East, the owners had strategically positioned a small billboard announcing their treasure of the month: Pedicure and Manicure with hot paraffin, $30. They had my attention! I had been in Salt Lake for almost a year, and had yet to discover a nail spa I enjoyed and trusted. At these prices, I could afford to be disappointed, if that were to be the case.
As I walked in, Hannah greeted me like an old friend. Happy, professional nail techs were ready to apply their expertise to my troubled digits. From the moment I entered the distinctively Middle Eastern flavored salon, I was waited on “hand and foot.” Hannah brought me water and Mediterranean coffee, making me feel right at home. Hannah offered me a chance to experience their oxygen bar. Why not? As I relaxed in the oxygen room, exotic music evoked images of belly dancers in my mind, and I smiled while sipping on coffee and inhaling deeply.
I hardly cared about my nails by now, yet the details of my pedicure and manicure were performed meticulously. While I was under repair, the many treasures on display and distributed throught the salon fell under my scrutiny. I will never need another salon, for as long as I live in Utah.
